A handful of email addresses were mistakenly added to our new ChurchSoundcheck Discussion Group or our CSC Announce List. If yours was one of them, please accept our apologies. It was not our intention to burden you with unwanted email. With nearly 3000 members, sometimes mistakes happen. AN ENCOURAGEMENT ========================================== If you were once a member of our group and dropped off simply because of the high volume of daily email, then we would encourage you to stay subscribed to the Announce List. We have two points of clarification to make that hopefully will help many of our members. (1) THE ADDRESS to post your messages to the group HAS CHANGED. You should now post your messages only to . We have completely shut down our Sparklist listserv. As many times as we've said that since midnight last night, some people aren't reading their email and/or it hasn't sunk in yet. There is no point in trying to resubscribe via the blaze server at Sparklist because we have moved our service to a different company. ' (2) Again, erase the blaze server address from your system. The web address for the NEW WEB INTERFACE is http://lists.churchsoundcheck.com/list/listinfo. Please store that address in your browser and in a database. You'll find it at the bottom of all the emails from the group as well. Again, the web address for the new web interface is no longer at Sparklist. Instead, set your browser to go to http://lists.churchsoundcheck.com/list/listinfo (3) While most of our members receive their CSC email directly to their inbox, a handful of our members are used to reading and posting their messages at the web page interface. That feature is no longer available, which means everyone in the group now will receive their CSC mail like any other email. You can still, however, choose the standard or digest version. The good news is that the system is working wonderfully, and the switchover has created only minor glitches. Be Blessed! Taipale Media Systems, Inc. Curt & Jeanna Taipale Founders of the CSC Discussion Group Here's the information from Angela: ============================== We have a critical need right now for 3 sound technicians who could travel with us for the summer. We are looking for people who have a basic understanding of signal flow through a sound system, and will train them on the specifics of our equipment. Since we are a missions organization, our team members raise financial support to be part of our outreaches, so this isn't a "job." We use a 24-channel portable sound system with full-range speakers on stands. There are vocal & instrumental monitor mixes as well, with a full EQ & some reverb. The techs will not be responsible to set up the entire system, but will work with teams members to set-up and tear-down the system. They will need to have problem-solving abilities, and a musical background is very helpful. This is a great opportunity to learn, and is excellent preparation for future sound work. Our venues range from churches that seat 100 - 2000, as well as all types of outdoor settings, both in the United States, and in other countries. CELEBRANT SINGERS and orchestra is an interdenominational music ministry based in Central California. Started in 1977, our purpose is to share the gospel around the world through music and testimony. Each year, our groups hold more than 1200 concerts across the United States and Canada, and in 8-10 other countries as well. Our teams have about 20-25 people, including 8-10 vocalists, 10-12 instrumentalists (brass, woodwinds, strings, rhythm sections), and a couple of light & sound technicians, each of whom is part of leading worship and evangelizing through a personal prayer ministry at the end of our concerts. We are looking for people who have a heart for worship and the lost, and want to combine the two. Each night, in addition to the music that is presented, we have an opportunity to share our own personal testimony and to pray with people. Overseas, each team might do 2-3 concerts per day, in places as varied as hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, orphanages, and soccer stadiums! It's amazing how God uses us in unusual ways to get His message through! Tour begins on June 10th and goes through the end of August. We begin with a 10-day intensive rehearsal training camp, and the first concert by each group is on Thursday, June 20th. We are missionaries, so each one of us raises a portion of the amount needed for the summer tour. We provide support-raising materials, and one of our staff members is responsible to contact each person coming with us for the summer on a weekly basis to coach them through the process. Our friend, Jeff Alford, tech director for New Life Christian Fellowship in Jacksonville, Florida is finally letting go of their D&R recording console. I've cut tracks and mixed on this console, and it really sounds great. Jeff has cranked out some great live worship projects on it. In fact, Jeff has a reputation for delivering recording projects that sound better than some of the Integrity and Maranatha projects you're familiar with. That reputation only comes through experience and using the right equipment, and this console has been at the core of those recordings for many years. But alas it's making way for a new digital console to take its place. If you're in the market for a great recording desk, you should jump on this one. Here are the details: =========================================== D & R Electronics 8000 Series III The D & R 8000 Recording Console is a 32-channel mic input by 24-buss output inline format desk. Any channel can be a sub group, and all channels have direct outputs. All monitor faders can be a completely separate input during mix down. They are line level with a pan pot for left and right to the main mix, there is also an insert point for adding equalization or any other outboard device. The console has a full patch bay built in with 48 external hook ups for outboard gear and effects. There are 8 aux sends that can be switched pre or post. 2 stereo cue sends that can get signal from any of the 8 aux or the left right mix feeds. There are 6 stereo returns for your 2tks , dats, daw's, and more. Metering is by leds on all channels plus a very hand polarity meter. This console has been in a non-smoking environment from the beginning in a church production studio. It has tracked and recorded many albums that are out all over the world. Recent artists that have been recorded using this console include Troy Sneed, La Shun Pace, Georgia Mass Choir all of Savoy Records. MorningStar Ministries out of Charlotte, NC, has done 6 projects in the last 3 years on this console. Henrietta Telfair and Pastor Rudolph McKissick, Jr. and The Word and Worship Mass Choir of Emtro Productions and Dr. Rodney Howard Browne Worship live 1 and 2. This is just a partial list of projects. This Console is ready to sell. Original price was over $36k new. At $8k it won't last long. Shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer; the console weights approximately 600 lbs. Hi Y'all! A couple of people have asked this question recently, so we decided to post a note to the group to say that YES -- we do have a handful of the Rane Pro Audio Reference books left. It really is a great book to have available, especially at the production booth. Think about all the times that your crew is visiting during rehearsals, or on workdays, or between services, and someone has a question about some audio topic. This reference book really does have answers to a great many questions, and we consider it a must-have for every church. That's why we went to the trouble of getting a handful of them in stock here. We have found it to be a wonderful reference for all things audio. It's a dictionary-like reference that includes abbreviations, acronyms, anecdotes, biographies, definitions, examples, humor, internet hypelinks, idioms, initialisms, jargon, phrases, quotations, slang, trademarks and tradenames. It also contains thirty tutorial technical notes authored by pro audio industry professionals. The included interactive CD-ROM (Mac & Windows compatible) expands the functionality of the reference to include full hyperlinking to itself and to remote internet websites, as well as search and print features. The good news is that we do still have the Rane Pro Audio Reference IN STOCK and ready to ship. The cost is just $34.95 plus $5 shipping & handling (within the continental US). Seriously, every church tech library and production booth should have a copy of this book within arm's reach. It will authoritatively answer a ton of questions that come up in your tech team every weekend. Call us today toll-free at 888-547-1727, or 972-747-8083. Be Blessed! Taipale Media Systems, Inc. Some will consider this an opportunity, although some might consider this very scary indeed, but nevertheless we wanted to let you know that our esteemed business colleague, Blair McNair, will be traveling to Michigan next week to visit several of our current clients. If your church has a need for some expert consulting advice regarding the sound system, video projection, stage lighting or acoustics, Blair would have some room in his consulting schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday. He'll have his TEF and Smaart analyzers with him. As many know, Blair is a true TEF Jedi, having been the head of the TEF division at Crown for a time, and the worldwide sales manager for TEF prior to that. He is still the head of the TEF Advisory Board. He's been asked to do analysis work for everything from large Navy ships to the 20,000-seat Mormon Tabernacle, and yet he is perfectly comfortable working in small churches as well. If your church would be interested in taking advantage of the fact that Blair will be in your neighborhood on those dates, please contact me directly and we'll try to set it up. There's no charge for the travel, and we'll simply invoice you for his time working with you at your church. Please understand that by grabbing Blair while he's driving by your community that you'll be saving over $1000 in travel costs and our usual consulting fees. I can't imagine anyone passing that up. Don't miss this unique opportunity. Contact me directly at , or by calling me at 972-747-8083. First come, first served. Be Blessed! Taipale Media Systems, Inc. The exhibits are open on Wednesday and Thursday. There is a special breakfast on Wednesday morning at 8:30 am, and we're planning for a worship service on Wednesday (morning?) with Jamie Harvill. Jamie is a phenomenal songwriter and good friend. He has written a number of Integrity's best known songs, including Ancient of Days (Ron Kenoly) and Firm Foundation (Marty Nystrom). For more info, check out his website at www.jamieharvill.com. There are a lot of great classes to choose from and people to learn from. Since you will, of course, want to attend ALL of my classes -- right!?!?! -- here's a list of my and Blair's classes next week at Inspiration. No, we're not recording them. You actually have to show up. ============================================================= Maximizing Your Mixing Console (Monday, 3:30 pm) Curt Taipale Want to know the secrets to having full confidence in operating any mixing console? Do y'all have any idea how much of an impact that SynAudCon has had on our life, on our career, on our way of looking at the pro audio world!?! When I was just about to graduate from the University of Miami with my Bachelor of Music degree in Music Engineering Technology, I heard one of my classmates mention something about Synergetic Audio Concepts. I didn't know anything about them or their background, who they were, what their role was in the industry, nothing. But the buzz in our class was that going to a SynAudCon seminar was a great next step to take. We were graduating with basically a degree in audio recording and each of us felt that we had a solid understanding of the technology. I felt comfortable in the knowledge that I could walk into any recording studio on the planet and within thirty minutes have the system up and running with an understanding of how to get the sounds that I was going for. I was confident in that environment. Even though we had some training in sound reinforcement along the way, and even though my instructor was Bill Porter -- live sound engineer for Elvis Presley -- understanding the technology behind live sound was still a gap in my understanding. So the first chance that I got, I attended my first SAC seminar in the early 1980's. It changed my life. It opened up a whole new world to me. It solidified all I had learned from Bill, but took that knowledge to a greater depth than I had known before. I came out of that three day class lit up and ready to go, yet realizing that I didn't know quite as much as I thought I knew before I went to the seminar. That recharged my hunger to continue learning, and today I keep going back to SAC seminars as often as I can to find out just how much I don't know. If you haven't been to a SAC seminar before, or if you haven't been in a while, take a leap of faith and go. You won't come away understanding how to place a microphone or how to drive your console. For that you should be coming to one of our ChurchSoundcheck seminars this fall. But what you learn about the technology behind it, how the equipment works together, about measurement, and so much more will stay with you and serve you well for your entire life. Not attending is not an option. Be Blessed! Taipale Media Systems, Inc.
